Gudmundur Gudmundsson ( Isl. Guðmundur Guðmundsson , May 11, 1918 - April 20, 1974 ) - Icelandic chess player , national master. Champion of Iceland in 1954. As part of the Icelandic national team, he participated in the 1954 Chess Olympiad in Amsterdam . He was also a member of the Iceland national team, performing at the unofficial chess Olympiad in 1936 in Munich (he was a reserve player, there are no games in his databases from this tournament). In 1947, Gudmundsson represented Iceland at the tournament of the northern countries , which had the status of the zonal tournament of the challenging cycle of 1948-1950. Gudmundsson also took part (and won prizes) in a number of major international tournaments of the 1940-1950s.
