Chu Chet

Chu Chet ( Khmer. ជូ ជេ ត ), also known as Tang Si, is a Cambodian revolutionary , one of the leaders of the Pracheachun party, an activist of the Khmer Rouge regime, and secretary of the Western zone of Cambodia (Democratic Kampuchea). Member of the Communist Party of Kampuchea.

Biography

Chu Chet was born in Kampot Province. During the First Indochina War, Khmer Issarak joined the partisans, participated in the armed struggle against the French colonial administration. He joined the Communist Party of Indochina in 1951, underwent political training in Vietnam. He worked as editor of the newspaper Pracheachun, in January 1962, together with Non Swan , was imprisoned for anti-government activities against Norodom Sihanouk [1] . After his release, he returned to his native province, where he continued his political activities, gradually rose to the rank of deputy Ta Moka.

Since the establishment in 1970 of the Royal Government of National Unity of Cambodia, he served as Minister for Religious and Social Affairs. [2]

Arrested on March 15, 1978 during intra-party purges in the ranks of the Khmer Rouge. Together with other leaders of the Western zone, he was transferred to the infamous S-21 prison, and subsequently shot [3] .
