Alstroemer, Margaret

Countess Margareta Hedwig Alströmer ( Swede. Margareta Alströmer ; December 12, 1763 - February 19, 1816 ) is a Swedish artist and singer. Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts and the Royal Swedish Academy of Music [1] .

Biography

Margareta Alstroemer was born in the family of Baron , statesman and amateur musician and Christina Maria Olonberg. Her grandfather on her father's side was the famous , who was called in Sweden the pioneer of modern agriculture and industry. The girl was brought up in a cultural environment. Her father made his home a center of cultural life in the city of Gothenburg , was known as the founder of the Comediehuset Theater (1779). Margareta Alstroemer and her sisters, Christina and Anna, as well as their brother Jonas, participated as singers, musicians and actors in concerts and performances of amateur theaters in Gothenburg and Stockholm .

Alstroemer was known as a “skilled lover of painting” and in 1795 was elected by an overwhelming majority of votes a member of the Academy of Fine Arts. She also sang at private concerts and public charity concerts, and in the same year she was elected to the Academy of Music, where only professional singers such as the Swedish opera singer and composer Elisabeth Olin (1782, Elisabeth Olin), singer Christina Fredenheim (1762) were elected —1841, Christina Fredenheim) and singer Anna Brita Wendelius (1741–1804, Anna Brita Wendelius), then in 1801 sisters Sofia (1773–1858) and Emily (1780–1863) Brendel, Ulrika Buck, violinist and singer Maria Antoinette Petersen (1771-1855). In 1797, another non-professional artist, Wendela Gustav Sparre (1772-1855, Wendela Gustafva Sparre), was accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1799, Margareta Alströmer took part in a Stockholm concert with singers Kristoffer Christian Karsten, Marianne Ehrenström and Kristina Fredenheim. Alstroemer played the clavichord .

In 1781, Alstroemer married Major General Earl Niels-August Kronstedt-af-Fullero. In 1788, her husband was sentenced to death for disobeying the authorities, but instead was imprisoned in the Varberg fortress. In 1792, by order of King Charles XIII, he was released.
