Witch well

Witch's well ( Est. Tuhala nõiakaev ) is a source of water, located near the village of Tuhala in Kose Parish, Harju County , Estonia . Known for its unique behavior (rapid expiration of water) during certain periods of the year. The Miracle of Estonia 2012 [1]

The well is 2.4 m deep and is located on the karst territory of the “Tukhala Natural Center”, the largest in Estonia (188 ha). During the flood period it throws to the surface up to 100 liters of water per second (“boils”), the phenomenon can last up to three weeks, but does not repeat every year. The marsh origin determines the brownish color of the water.

It has long been the object of worship of the Gentiles [2] .

Near the well there are stylized sculptures of Hulot Youn .

In connection with the plans for the construction of a limestone quarry near the territory of the Natural Center, the well phenomenon may cease to exist [3] .
