“Candy Pop” is a single recorded by South Korean girl group Twice . This is the second full Japanese single of the group, which also contains three other tracks. It was released in digital format on January 12, 2018, and on CD was released on February 7 via Warner Music Japan label [1] .

Preparation and Release
On December 22, 2017, Twice announced their second Japanese single, “Candy Pop,” featuring a teaser photo [2] . An excerpt from the b-side track “Brand New Girl” was presented in an advertisement by the Japanese company Line [3] . On January 12, 2018, the release of “Candy Pop” in digital form took place [4] . “Brand New Girl” was released as a digital single on January 23 [5] .
The single was released on February 7th [6] [7] .
Composition
The composers of Candy Pop were Min Lee collapsedone and Mayu Wakisaka, who previously worked on the hit single Knock Knock.
Video clip
The video clip was released on January 12, 2018. The anime style was developed by Takahiko Kyogoku, known for creating Living Love! School Idols Project ”, in collaboration with Naive Creative Production, a team that had previously worked with Twice to create their video clips [8] . The script was written by Park Chin Young . Also in the video there are several hidden characters, the illustration of which was personally engaged in by one of the group members - Cheyong [9] .
According to the plot, Twice are presented in the form of drawn anime characters in the world of sweets, and dance for a music video that is watched by a girl from the real world. They see her upset and want to cheer her up. Thanks to the animated character Pak Chin Young, they manage to escape from the world of sweets in a van and get into reality, transforming into real people [10] .
Promotion
Candy Pop and Brand New Girl were first unveiled during the Candy Pop Twice Showcase Live Tour 2018 in Seto on January 19, 2018. February 2 Twice performed with "Candy Pop" on the air of the popular Japanese television show Music Station ; On February 3 and 10, performances were held on Count Down TV [11] .
Commercial Success
The single album debuted from the top of the Oricon daily single chart, sales on the first day totaled 117,486 copies. The group managed to break its own previously set record for sales on the first day with a Japanese single, and again renew the record among all the female Korean groups that have ever debuted in Japan [12] [13] . It was also reported that only by pre-orders the number of copies sold had reached more than 333 thousand (333 633). Billboard Japan reported that sales from February 5 to 11, 2018 amounted to 303 746 copies [14] . February 24 sold copies, there were already 400 thousand [15] .
