pgrep

pgrep is a utility that scans active processes in the system and displays process identifiers whose attributes correspond to the requests specified on the command line. Pgrep was originally written for the Solaris 7 operating system, later it was implemented for GNU / Linux and OpenBSD .

Use

Print all processes (in extended form - ID and name) belonging to the other group:

  $ pgrep -l -G other

List all processes that do not belong to the root user :

  $ pgrep -v -u root
