Biography and career
Sarah Yazer Mason was born in Pima, Arizona. She and her husband, Victor Herman , received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 1933 Little Women movie, based on Louise May Alcott’s novel. Mason was one of the first people in Hollywood to specialize in screenplay supervision and film continuity when the industry switched from silent film to talking [3] [4] .
She and Herman got married on April 20, 1921. She died in Los Angeles and was cremated. Victor and Sarah had two children: daughter Katherine Anliss Hirman (02/05/1922 - 04/04/2007), an artist and art teacher in Southern California, who was previously married to music producer Lester Koenig [5] , and the son of Victor Hirman Jr. (1924 / 5-02.07.2014), a successful breeder of racehorses [6] . The Oscar for Little Women remains with her family.
