The 2007 Marathon World Cup was held on August 25 (men) and September 2 (women) as part of the World Athletics Championships in Osaka , Japan . Participants played a team prize in competitions for men and women. Medals in the individual championship were awarded as part of the World Cup.

In total, 72 runners from 11 countries of the world (39 men and 33 women) went to the start of the teams. Each country could put up to 5 people in each of the two races. Winners were determined by the sum of the results of the 3 best participants.
The races took place in hot weather with high humidity, which greatly influenced the level of results shown. At the time of the start of the men's race (7 a.m. local time), the temperature was +28 degrees, the relative humidity was 81%. Women went the distance when the thermometer had +32 degrees of heat.
The Japanese men's team won the World Cup for the third time in a row. Among women, Kenya defended the title obtained two years earlier.
