Biography
The representative of the Czech aristocratic family of the lords of Podebrady . Born October 1, 1470 in the castle Litice . The second son of Jindřich I from Podebrad (1448–1498) and Ursula of Brandenburg (1450–1508), daughter of Elector of Brandenburg Albrecht III Achilles .
In June 1498, after the death of Jindřich I of Podebrady, his sons Albrecht , Georg and Karl were given joint ownership of Zembick and Olesnica principality , as well as Klad county . In addition, each of the three sons of the rules in his inheritance: Albrecht in Kladsko , Karl, first in Zembice (and then after the construction of the new castle - in Zombkowice-Slask ), and George - in Olesnitsa .
In 1498, the brothers invited Lödek-Zdrój Konrad von Berg from Vienna, who conducted a series of scientific studies of local water and recognized it as a curative. As a result, the brothers founded the first health resort in this area [1] . At the same time, Albrecht, along with his brothers George and Karl, supported his father-in-law, Jan Zagansky, in building a monastery in Lübinge . In 1499, the brothers Albrecht, George, and Karl bestowed Olesnitsa, then Bierutuva got brewing privileges and selling beer in the villages [2] .
On May 5, 1501, due to financial difficulties, brothers George, Karl and Albrecht sold the Kladsk county to their future brother-in-law , Ulrich von Gardegg (d. 1535), for 60 thousand thalers , retaining the life title of Count Kladsky for himself and his descendants in the male line [3 ] . In the same year, 1501, Georg and his brothers Albrecht and Karl transferred the town of Voluv with all its environs to his father-in-law, Jan агaganski, who lost the Glogow princedom in 1488, to life possession.
November 10, 1502 32-year-old childless George died in Olesnitsa. His possessions were inherited by his brothers Albrecht and Karl [4] .
Marriage
On January 7, 1488 in Glogów, George, like his elder brother Albrecht, married one of the daughters of John II the Mad, Prince Zagansky Yadviga (1477 - February 15, 1524), from which he left no offspring.
