Since 1958, at the JINR High Energy Laboratory: Senior Researcher, Leading Researcher, Chief Researcher.
Since the mid-1960s conducted experiments on the synchrophasotron. In experiments at the Serpukhov accelerator, he was one of those who discovered a new phenomenon - narrowing of the diffraction cone in elastic proton-proton scattering. The result is registered in the State register of discoveries of the USSR with a priority of 1969 and L. S. Zolin is listed among its authors.
USSR State Prize for 1983 - for active participation and great creative contribution to the cycle of experiments.
