Football career
A native of West Darby , Liverpool , William Ball played for the local teams Liverpool South End and Rock Ferry [2] .
In 1897 he became a player in the Blackburn Rovers First Division club. In the season 1897/98 he spent 17 matches for the club in the championship [3] .
In the season 1898/99 he was a player of the Everton Liverpool, but did not play a single match for the main team. In 1899 he moved to the Notts County . He spent two seasons in the club, having played in 70 matches and scoring 2 goals [3] .
Then he returned to Blackburn, where he spent the season 1901/02, playing in three matches of the team [3] .
In October 1902 he moved to Manchester United . He made his debut for the club on November 8, 1902 in a match against Lincoln City [4] . He played 4 matches for the team in the 1902/03 season [5] , and left the club in the summer off-season [2] .
