Mia Manganello ( English Mia Manganello ; born October 27, 1989 , Fort Walton Beach , USA ) - American speed skater , multiple winner of the national championship in speed skating in the United States in the junior and adult age categories, as well as a number of other competitions [2 ] . Bronze Olympic champion in the team race at the 2018 Winter Olympics , bronze medalist in the women's pursuit race for the first stage of the World Cup in speed skating 2008/2009 season [3] .

Biography
Mia Manganello was born in Fort Walton Beach , Florida , USA . From the age of eight she was roller skating. In 2002, her family moved from Fort Walton Beach to Salt Lake City . She started speed skating after spending a week in the Utah Olympic Oval , where competitions were held as part of the 2002 Winter Olympics . In the national team, coach Tom Cushman is responsible for her training. In 2010, after she was unable to qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympics , Mia suspended skating lessons and professionally engaged in cycling for six years, taking part in various competitions as part of the American team “Visit Dallas DNA Pro Cycling” [4] [5] .
Sports career
Manganello won her first medal at the international competition under the auspices of the ISU during the first stage of the World Cup in speed skating in the 2008/2009 season, which was held in the German capital Berlin . On November 9, American athletes in the women's pursuit with a 3: 05.68 finish were third at the skating rink at the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen sports complex. Skaters from Germany (3: 04.51 - 2nd place) and the Netherlands (3: 04.34 - 1st place) [6] [7] took higher positions.
At the 2018 Winter Olympics , Mia Manganello made her debut in the 1500m race , the mass start and the team race . On February 12, 2018 at the Olympic Oval of Gangnin in the women's 1,500 m race, she finished with a score of 1: 59.93 + (5.58). In the final standings, Mia took 22nd place [8] [9] . Bronze medals for American skaters ended participation in the team pursuit. On February 21, 2018 at the Olympic Oval of Gangnin they finished in the final B with a score of 2: 59.27. Skaters from the Netherlands (2: 55.48 - 2nd place) and Japan (2: 53.89 (Olympic time record) - 1st place) took higher positions [10] [11] . On February 24, in the women's mass start, Manganello finished 8: 54.40. In the final standings, Mia took 15th place [12] [13] .
