Mārciena ( Latvian: Mārciena ) is a settlement in the Madona region of Latvia . The administrative center of Martsien parish . It is located on the Arona River (a tributary of Aiviekste ). The city of Madona is about 14 km away [1] . According to the data for 2017, 632 people lived in the settlement [2] .

The village has the Marciena railway platform on the Plavinas - Gulbene line . There is also a volost administration, an elementary school, a house of culture, a library, a post office and an Orthodox church.
History
First mentioned in 1213. By the beginning of the 20th century, the village was the center of the Marcien estate.
In Soviet times, the village was the center of the Martsien village council of the Madona region . The central estate of the Zelta Druva collective farm was located in the village [1] .
