Hafiz Mir Jalal oglu Pashayev ( azerb. Hafiz Mir-Cəlal oğlu Paşayev ; born May 2, 1941 in Baku , Azerbaijan SSR ) is a Soviet physicist (doctor of physical and mathematical sciences) and an Azerbaijani diplomat and educator. Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the USA , Canada and Mexico (1993-2006), deputy. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy and (after merging with another university) ADA University [1] .

Biography
Hafiz Mir Jalal oglu Pashayev was born on May 2, 1941 in Baku . In 1963 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Azerbaijan State University (current Baku State University).
Career
In 1964-1967 he worked at the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences . In 1971 he graduated from graduate school at the Institute of Atomic Energy. Kurchatov in Moscow. In 1971 - 1992 he worked as a researcher, director of the laboratory at the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In 1975 - 1976, he conducted research at the University of California at Irvine, was a member of the Board of Trustees interested in developing and strengthening cooperation and trade in honey between the Azerbaijani and American peoples. In 1984 he defended his doctoral dissertation and received the degree of Doctor of Physics and Mathematics . In 1993-2006 , he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States (simultaneously in Mexico and Canada ) [2] .
On August 14, 2006 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. After the ADA University was created on the basis of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the University of Information Technologies by order of the President of Azerbaijan on January 13, 2014 , Hafiz Pashayev was appointed rector of this university. Author of more than 100 scientific works, two monographs, as well as dozens of articles covering various socio-political topics.
He speaks English and Russian [1] .
Rewards
- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on awarding Hafiz Pashayev the Order of Shokhret. According to APA, H. Pashayev was awarded an award for services in socio-political and scientific-pedagogical activity. [3]
- On July 9, 2019, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on awarding Hafiz Pashayev the Order for Service to the Fatherland, 2nd degree [4] .
