Jiří Bis ( czech. Jiří Bis ; April 26, 1941 , Ivančice - October 3, 2018 ) - Czech specialist in the design and operation of nuclear power plants, politician, senator from county No. 9, Pilsen (2008–2014). A member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (1963-1970), since 1995 - member of the Czech Social Democratic Party.

Biography
Jiří Bis was born on April 26, 1941 in the Czech town of Ivančice. In 1958 he graduated from high school in the city of Moravsky-Krumlov , then went to study at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He studied at the Czech University for two years, then went to Moscow, where he entered to study at the Moscow Energy Institute (MEI). In 1964 he graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, received a specialty - "Design and operation of nuclear power plants."
After returning to his homeland, to Czechoslovakia, he found work at Škoda Holding, a company specializing in mechanical engineering products (tanks, locomotives, machine tools, etc.). He worked in the company until 1991, replacing several senior positions. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Deputy Ministry of Industry and Trade under the leadership of Milan Urbana.
Family
Jiří Bis is married and has a son Lubomyr and daughter Ditka.
Political career
From 1963 to 1970, Jiří Bis was a member of the Czechoslovak Communist Party (KSČ). In 1995, he joined the Czech Social Democratic Party .
In 2008 he ran for the Senate of the Republic. In the first round of elections received 26.58% of the vote, taking second place. In the second round, Jiří Bis scored 52.97% of the vote.
Being elected to the Senate, he works in his Committee on Economy, Agriculture and Transport, and is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, the Committee on Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Transport. In the municipal elections in 2014 was the representative of the city of Pilsen.
