Biography
He graduated from Oberlin College (1969) with a bachelor's degree in biology with honors. Then he received a medical degree with honors from the University of Chicago in 1973 [1] . Almost all of his activities are related to the University of Washington at St. Louis (Assistant Professor since 1981, Associate Professor since 1985, Professor since 1987, Honored Professor since 2002), where he headed the Department of Molecular Biology and Pharmacology (1991–2004) and was (since 2004) Founding Director of the Interdepartmental Center for Genome and Systems Biology Sciences. Prepared 127 MD - and PhD students and postdocs.
Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2004) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1992), Fello (2001).
Author of more than 440 publications [1] . Married, two children.
