Christy, John (1881)

John Caubro Christie ( born John Coubrough Christie ; February 8, 1881 - November 21, 1934 ) is a Scottish footballer . He played at the positions of a right back and a left midfielder for a number of clubs of the English Football League and Southern League, including two Manchester clubs , Manchester United and Manchester City [1] .

Football career

Glasgow native, according to the 1901 census, John worked as a porter on the railroad [2] . He played for the Salem Holmfield football club, from which in September 1902 he moved to Manchester United [3] as a possible successor to Harry Stafford [2] . In the main squad, United debuted on February 28, 1903, taking the position of right-back in the match against Doncaster Rovers [4] . However, this was his only official match for the club. On May 14, 1904, he left United, moving to another Manchester club, Manchester City .

For the "City" debuted on January 7, 1905 in a match against the " Stock " [5] . Spent 3 seasons at Manchester City, playing in 10 championship matches.

Later he played for the Southern League clubs “ Bradford Park Avenue ”, “ Croydon Common ” and “ Brentford ”, “ Altringham ” [2] .

In December 1910 he played for the football team of London (London XI) against the team of Paris (Paris XI) [2] .

During the war he served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force [2] .
