Cheshme [1] ( Turkish : Çeşme Yarımadası or Karaburun Yarımadası ) is a peninsula in Turkey , in İzmir silt in the Aegean region . Speaks into the Aegean Sea opposite Chios , west of Izmir and the Bozdaglar mountains tur . In the north-eastern part it is washed by the Izmir Bay . Covering an area of 550 square kilometers, it is one of the largest peninsulas on the peninsula of Asia Minor . On the peninsula in Gulbahce tur located Izmir Technological Institute . Gulbahce Bay separates the peninsula from the Urla Peninsula.

On the peninsula was the ancient city of Erifra , and to the west - the Clazomenes and Theos .
The largest settlement is Cesme . Freeway 32 , part of the European route E881 , and state road D 300 connect Cesme with the interior of Turkey. In the eastern part of the peninsula there is a state road D 505 , which connects Karaburun and Urlu .
The highest point is Mount Akdag [1] ( Akdağ ), known in ancient times as Mimant [2] [3] [4] ( Greek Μίμας ) 1212 meters high [1] , which is located in the northern part of the peninsula.
