Biography

Vladimir Vasilyevich Shevchenko was born on August 29, 1926 in Prague , Czechoslovakia . In 1944 he entered the Moscow Power Engineering Institute at the Faculty of Electrical Equipment and Automation of Industry and Transport (EAPTF). In 1950, he successfully graduated from MPEI with a degree in Electric Transport. By distribution, he began to work as a foreman, engineer of the contact network at the enterprise of the Ministry of Railways - Moselectrotyagstroy.

Since 1951, he worked at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in succession in the following positions: senior laboratory assistant, assistant, associate professor of the Electric Transport department, first deputy dean of EAAPT, vice-rector of the institute.

In 1959, V. Shevchenko defended his thesis, in 1979 - a doctorate. In 1980, he received the academic title of professor. Since 1972, he worked as vice-rector of MPEI of the evening faculty, and since 1981 - vice-rector for the educational part of MPEI, at the same time worked as head. Department of Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises.

Research interests: power, active filters of industrial networks of three-phase current, pulse converters of electric current, high-voltage thyristor control.

Under the guidance of V.V. Shevchenko, 3 doctoral and 28 master's theses were prepared and defended. Vladimir Vasilievich Shevchenko has 15 copyright certificates for inventions, is about 120 scientific works, including 4 textbooks and 5 monographs. He was published in the scientific journals Industrial Energy, Electricity, Electrical Engineering, and Vestnik MPEI.

VV Shevchenko for a long time headed the Dissertation Council for the award of academic degrees at MPEI, worked in the expert group of the Energy Department of the Higher Attestation Commission, in 1993 he was elected a member of corr. Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences of the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Vasilyevich Shevchenko died on January 20, 2002 in Moscow. He was buried at Vvedensky cemetery .
