At one time he taught at rural schools in Siberia.
In 1919, he edited the newspaper of the partisans of the Altai province "Izvestia".
In the 1920s, he worked in the Penza provincial newspaper Trudovaya Pravda (now the newspaper Penza Pravda ). He also edited the Penza peasant newspapers "New Village" and "Kolos".
In the spring of 1921 he was elected a delegate to the First All-Russian Congress of Journalists.
In 1926, on the screens of cinemas in Moscow with great success was the feature film "Who Who?", Set according to the script Nikishin.
In the early 1930s, he was a literary worker of the Peasant Newspaper.
September 2, 1931 he moved to the publishing house "Volga commune."
Subsequently, he was the correspondent of Pravda in the Middle Volga Region. He constantly lived and worked in Kuibyshev (now Samara).
The author of many publications on the history of the Penza province , including the book: "1905" (Penza, 1925); "How October was born"; “Penza landowners and their serfs on the eve of 1861”, “Labor and professional movement in the Penza province: Materials for history: 1850-1918” (Penza, 1927).
He was the first to compile a list of Decembrists associated with the Penza region, focusing on official documents of 1826. Nikishin laid the foundation for the historiography of the Decembrists in Penza local history.
He died in 1978.
