Biography
Early years
In 967, Ainion , the son of the ruler of Deheibart , invaded the Gower Peninsula, the possession of Morgan Old, "as a pretext", speaking out against the pagan Vikings and their supporters. This provoked Owain ap Morgan's return raid from Gliveising , which brought Gower under control, and the invasion of Edgar of England , King of England, which forced Aynion's father, Owain , to swear allegiance to him in [5] .
The next raid in 976 [6] was a little more successful: Ainion made such a devastating campaign that it caused famine. However, Owain's brother, Itel , defeated him and restored the loss to the owners [5] .
Board
The reign of his father ended in the year 974, according to the Hyventiana Chronicle: "having transferred his power to his sons and grandsons ..... because of age and disrepair" [7] . According to some data, the eldest of the children of Morgan Old was Idvallon [2] [8] . According to another version, Owain [9] was the eldest son and heir. The years of Owain and his brothers went by the wars with neighboring Deiheybarth. In the year 977, the next invasion of troops from Deheybart to Gleasing occurred, but also unsuccessfully as the previous two (c.960 and 970) [10] .
It is not known whether Owain died in 983 [1] , or that year he, like his father, resigned from power, and thus died in 1001 [2] . In 984, or in 982 [5] , in the battle of Penkod-Collinna, Einion Deheybarsky, during the next invasion of Gleaves, was killed by the people of Gleissing and Gwent [11]
Owain was succeeded by his sons, in particular Itel Cherny [2] [1] , according to other sources he was his nephew and son Idvallon [3] , was a valiant prince and had a palace in Istradvayne and another summer house called Ton Ithel Cherny. He got such a nickname for the color of his hair and beard. [12]
