Story

Moscow , NEP . The journalist Khokhlova had an affair with Petrovsky, an employee of an industrial plant. The man is married, and the girl in love with him has problems at work. Khokhlova is close to suicide, but editor Vasilchikov in love with her is trying to prevent a tragic outcome.

“Your acquaintance” is a “for three” tape, with an open love triangle, the top of which is a woman. Some critics called the film "an instruction for the director of a chamber film." Very accurate. Its human center is a woman who has preserved dignity, the ability to sincere, strong feelings, deceived and loyal to a man. Khokhlova, an honest, professional journalist, is also defeated on the "labor front" - having written an article on the activities of trade unions that does not suit the editorial board, she loses her job. Outwardly, she is not a heroine at all - awkward, absent-minded, funny. It will spill glue, then bread will begin to be cut with scissors, then, like a girl, it will slide down a strip of ice and, after running after a car, will fall on tram tracks. There is something of chaplin's in it, funny and sad, comic and dramatic.
