South Ossetians

South Ossetians - Kudars, Ksans and Tuals.

Until the death of Stalin, in the passports and other documents of the Ossetians, the entry "South Ossetian", " North Ossetian " was entered in the column "nationality". [1] South Ossetians are a state- forming ethnic group in the state of South Ossetia .

Until recently, all South Ossetians were called Tuals. The ethnic name tual is local, found only in the Caucasus. Consequently, there is reason to see in the Tuals an originally local Caucasian ethnic group. The self-name of the South Ossetian tualag and the designation of the medieval ethnic group of the South Caucasus as “ dvals ” are genetically related, that is, these are variants of one ethnonym. Consequently, the origin of the South Ossetians should not be correlated with migration to the South Caucasus, but with the local Caucasian dwales.

Ethnogenesis of South Ossetians is described by some researchers as a result of the interaction of Vainakh-speaking dvals and Iranian-speaking Alans-oats. South Ossetia has never been called the "land of irs." Therefore, historical justice could be a double name: "South Ossetia - Dvaletiya". [2]

Among the famous South Ossetians Veleri Gazzayev and Alan Dzagoev .
