Anne-Marie "Annie" Famous Bremont ( fr. Anne-Marie "Annie" Famose-Bremont ; born June 16, 1944 , Juranson ) is a French skier who performed in slalom , giant slalom , downhill and combination . Biography

Annie Famoz was born on June 16, 1944 in the commune of Juranson of the Atlantic Pyrenees department, France .

She first made herself known in 1962, when she became the champion of France in giant slalom and joined the main team of the French national team. A year later, she won in slalom and downhill, won the prestigious Arlberg-Kandahar competitions, defeating all rivals in downhill skiing in Chamonix.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, she was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . In the slalom it was the seventh after the first attempt, but in the second attempt it was disqualified and did not show any result. In addition, she took fifth place in giant slalom and ninth place in downhill. As a student, she went to represent France at the Winter Universiade in Czechoslovakia , where she received gold in slalom.

In 1966, she visited the World Championships in Portillo , from where she brought bronze, gold and silver dignity awards won in downhill, slalom and combination, respectively (later it turned out that the winner of the downhill Erica Sinegger is actually a man, all her results were canceled , and Famoz thus rose in the final protocol to the second position).

With the advent of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in 1967, Anni Famoz immediately became an active participant in it, in particular, she won two stages in the debut season, received a small Crystal Globe in slalom, while in the overall classification of all disciplines she became the third.

Being among the leaders of the ski team in France, it successfully passed the selection for the 1968 home Olympic Games in Grenoble - this time it showed the eighth result in downhill skiing, won the bronze slalom medal and the silver medal in giant slalom. In addition, since the world championship was also played here, she additionally became a bronze and silver medalist of the World Cup, received silver in the non-Olympic discipline of combination, losing the lead only to Canadian Nancy Green and compatriot Marielle Guachel . For these outstanding sporting achievements, at the end of the season she was awarded the Legion of Honor (promoted to officer of the order in 2010) [1] .

After the Grenoble Olympics, Famoz remained in the main team of the French national team and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in subsequent years, she several times climbed the podium of the World Cup, although she never managed to win any of the stages more than once. In total, she is a five-time champion of France in various ski disciplines.

In 1972, she went to represent the country at the Sapporo Olympics - she performed in the downhill program, showing the eighth result in two attempts. Soon after the end of these competitions, she decided to end her sports career.

Subsequently, she married Patrick Bremont, the couple had two children: son David (1979) and daughter Sarah (1981). Having completed the career of an athlete, Famoz was engaged in the development of a network of sports shops and restaurants in the mountains, in particular in the ski resort of Avorya .
