Preparation and Release
When recording his debut album, Jonghyun worked with artists such as Yunha , Hwison, Zion.T and Iron. [1] The first single, Crazy (Guilty Pleasure), recorded with Iron, was released along with the album on all Korean music sites at midnight on January 12, 2015. Four days earlier, on January 8, the debut showcase at the SMTown Coex Artium took place, led by Girls' Generation Suyon . [2] Before the start of the showcase, a press conference was held with the participation of the media , where Jonghyun shared: “Honestly, I'm not sure about the performance of ballads. My fans liked them in the past, but I'm not very good at performing them. For this album, I focused on presenting my musical style and what I want to invest in my musical career. I wanted to make an album filled with the songs that I like, and work with those musicians who inspire me. When I decided with whom I want to record material for the album, I chose artists who could express this or that song best. ” [3]
The song “Beautiful Tonight”, which became a bonus track, was written in early 2012.
On January 7, the single “Déjà-Boo” was released, the lyrics and music for which were written by Jonghyun and Zion.T, who acted as co-producer. Song has been described [by whom? ] as "a composition of the retro funk genre with the accompaniment of a synthesizer and a funky rhythm of drums." [4] [5]
On January 8, the track “Love Belt” was released, also written by Jonghyun on his own and recorded with the participation of Yunhi. [6] The video "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" was released that day. The song was recorded with Iron, the third season of Show Me the Money 3. [7] The concept of the video corresponds to the name itself - a sinful pleasure, meaning the enjoyment of what should not. Jonghyun portrays a man carried away by a seductive woman. [8] The promotion kicked off on January 9th with a performance at Music Bank . [9]
“Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)” became the most watched Korean video in the US and worldwide in January 2015. [10] For the whole of 2015, 74,000 copies were sold in South Korea. [eleven]
