Biography
Mikhail Mikhailovich Epaneshnikov was born in 1915. In 1937 he graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute. After graduation, he got a job at the Moscow Institute of Labor Protection. By 1945 he managed to defend his thesis.
During the Great Patriotic War, he served in the air defense forces of Moscow, took part in the defense of Moscow, in the liberation of Polish cities. He finished the war with the rank of captain, was awarded four medals.
After demobilization in 1945, he worked at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute at the Department of Lighting Engineering. In total, he worked at MPEI from 1945 to 1973 in the following positions: assistant, associate professor, professor of the Lighting Engineering Department.
From 1945 to 1950, M. Yepaneshnikov was the head of the faculty course, from 1955 he was deputy. Head of the Department of Lighting.
In 1966 he defended a doctoral dissertation at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute on the topic: “Principles of rationing and calculation methods for lighting public buildings.
At MPEI M. Yepaneshnikov gave students lectures on the courses “Lighting installations”, “Fundamentals of electric lighting”, was the supervisor of graduate students during their work on dissertations. At various times, he was a member of the scientific councils of MPEI, VNISI, MNIITEP, editor of the section "Lighting and infrared technology" of the journal "Electronics".
Research interests: lighting quality issues, discomfort, integral characteristics of the light field. Based on his works, modern standards for lighting public buildings were created.
