Boyanov, Glory

Glory Boyanov ( Bulgarian. Glory Ivanov Boyanov February 25, 1915 , Bratsigovo - March 7, 2011 , Paris ) - Bulgarian philosopher , professor at Sofia University and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences , writer , humanist and one of the first Bulgarian dissidents .

Biography

Born February 25, 1915 in Bratsigovo . His family emigrated to Bulgaria from the village of Gorno Brode (located near the city of Serres, after the Second Balkan War, 1913, the territory of Greece). Boyanov grew up in a very poor family, where there were 5 children.

In 1941 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Sofia University , studied at the department of Professor Dimitar Mikhalchev . In the period 1943 - 1944, in connection with his anti-fascist activities, he was sent to a concentration camp in the territory of Greece occupied by the Bulgarians - Yenikoy.

He studied in France for some time.

After returning to Bulgaria in 1949 he was appointed teacher at the Faculty of Philosophy at Sofia University. Soon he became the favorite teacher among students. His students were such famous personalities as the philosopher Asen Ignatov , Zhelyu Zhelev (the first democratically elected president of Bulgaria) and others. After a while, Boyanov becomes a professor.

PhD in Philosophy, Institute of Philosophy, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He lectured “The History of Philosophy from the Renaissance in the 19th Century ” ( 1951 - 1956 ; 1972 - 1980 ) and “Humanism and Literature” ( 1978 - 1982 ) at Sofia State University. He published several books about the life and ideas of key philosophers of Europe in the 19th century . He writes poetry, unpublished plays for the theater, essays , and writes several paintings.

In 1988 he emigrated from Bulgaria to France with his family - his wife and two sons, where he worked actively (first three years in Amiens , and later in Paris ), published philosophical and fiction books up to 94 years old.

He died at the age of 96 on March 7, 2011 in Paris .
