Born in the village of Aleksandro-Nevsky, Novoderevensky district, Ryazan region.
A participant in the war from April 1942 on the South-Western Front as part of the 984th regiment, from September 1942 to July 1946 he was a senior sergeant, commander of the topographic reconnaissance platoon division of the 769th mountain artillery regiment of the 242nd mountain rifle division (Transcaucasian, North Caucasian, 4th Ukrainian fronts). He was awarded the orders of World War I degree, the Red Star (1945), medals "For courage", "For the defense of the Caucasus."
After demobilization, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the Institute of Chemical Physics.
He graduated from the Moscow Mechanical Institute (future MEPhI) (1953). By distribution, he was sent to KB-11 (VNIIEF) to IHF (department 3), from January 1959 to January 1997, head of department 26.
Developed new physical schemes of nuclear charges. He is the author of works on the dynamic strength of materials, the study of electrical effects in shock waves, the creation of explosion-proofing containers and the justification of the dynamic strength of nuclear weapons shells.
Doctor of technical sciences, professor, honored worker of science and technology of the RSFSR , laureate of the Lenin Prize (1962) and the USSR State Prize (1985). He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1956) and the Badge of Honor (1960).
