Career

Bernadette Schild was born in 1990 in Zell am See . Her older sister Marlies is a well-known skier, world champion, five-time winner of the small crystal globe in the standings of slalom.

Bernadette made her international debut in 2005. Three years later, she won a gold medal at the Junior World Slalom Championship. This success allowed her to join the main team at the end of the 2007/08 season . According to the special quota, she participated in the final of the World Cup in Bormio , starting in slalom. After the first attempt, the Austrian was the last, the 28th, and in the second descent she retired. It is noteworthy that in the debut start of Bernadette in the World Cup, her sister Marlis won.

Schild earned her first cup points at the end of 2008 at the Semmering stage, becoming the 24th in slalom. This start was only the third in the career of the Austrian in the World Cup.

Unlike her sister, Bernadette did not show high and stable results. She was able to win the first podium only at the end of the 2012/13 season , becoming the second at the final stage in the Swiss Lenzerheide , losing to Michaela Schiffrin . Also in 2013, Schild made her debut at the World Cup , becoming the 12th in Schladming .

In 2014, for the first time in her career, the Austrian performed at the Olympic Games . She started only in slalom , she was fourth after the first attempt (the best among all Austrians), but could not cope with the second track and retired.

At the second world championship in her career, which was held in 2017 in St. Moritz, she performed in two technical disciplines and showed 10 and 17 places in slalom and giant slalom, respectively. She also performed in two disciplines at the Olympics in Pyeongchang . She completed the giant slalom in 24th position, and in seventh in slalom .
