Biography
Representative of the Legnica line of the Silesian Piasts . The third (youngest) son of Prince Henry IX of Lubinsky and Anna Tseshin , daughter of Przemyslaw I Nosak , Prince Tseshin. Elder brothers - Princes Rupert II of Lubinsky (d. 1431) and Wenceslas III of Olav (d. 1423)
In 1419/1420 , after the death of Prince Henry IX of Lubinsky (1369-1419 / 1420), his possessions were inherited by his three sons. The eldest of them, Rupert II, was taken over by Lubin and Chojnów , and his younger brothers Vaclav III and Ludwik III jointly began to rule in Olav and Nemcha .
In 1423, after the death of a childless elder brother and co-ruler, Prince Wenceslas III of Olavsky, Ludwik III began to single-handedly rule the cities of Olav and Nemch .
In 1431, after the death of his other older brother, Prince Rupert II of Lubinsky, who did not leave offspring, Ludwik III annexed Lubin and Chojnów to his possessions.
In 1441, after the death of Ludwik III, his sons Johann I and Henry X were jointly owned by Lubin and Chojnów .
Marriage and children
Ludwik III was married to Margarita of Opole (c. 1412/1414 - January 15, 1454), the only daughter of Prince Bolko IV of Opole . They had two sons:
- Johann I (c. 1425–1453), Prince Lubinsky (1441–1446), Khoynuvsky (1441–1453) and Brzhegsky (1443–1450)
- Henry X (1426-1452), Prince Lubinsky (1441-1446), Khoynuvsky (1441-1452) and Brzhegsky (1443-1450).
After the death of Ludwik, his wife Margarita Opole received a lifetime possession as a widow's inheritance to Olav , whom she controlled until her death in 1454 .
