Career
In 1952 he made his international debut at the Oslo Olympics , where he performed in two sports. In the 18 km ski race, Korhonen showed the 14th time. In the biathlon competition, he was sixth after the jumps and even despite taking second place in the ski race, he could not climb the podium, becoming the fourth.
At the 1954 World Championships in Falun, he showed the 23rd result in the 15 km ski race. Later he focused on biathlon performances.
At the 1956 Olympics , Korhonen again became fourth in the double- event tournament. This time he broke through from 17th place after jumping, but before the bronze medal he did not have a little less than a point.
In 1958, at the home world championships in Lahti, the Finnish triathlete won the gold medal, beating the current Olympic champion Sverre Stenersen from Norway. Korhonen became the second world biathlon champion in the history of Finland after Heikki Hasu .
At the 1960 Olympics , Korhonen was the standard bearer of the national team at the opening ceremony of the Games. In the biathlon competitions, he showed ninth place, after which he completed his sports career.
