2018 NCAA Division One Men's Basketball Tournament

The 2018 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament for the NCAA First Division 2018 is an Olympic system tournament in which 68 teams have identified the U.S. national basketball champion among male student basketball teams. The first games of the tournament were held on March 13, 2018, and the final game on April 2 at Alamodoum in San Antonio , Texas . The champion of the tournament was the Villanova Wildcats team, which defeated Kansas Jayhox in the final match with a score of 79:62.

This tournament was remembered by many unexpected results and outsider victories. So, during the first round, for the first time in the history of the tournament, the 16th seeding number (UMBK) beat the first number ( Virginia ) with a score of 74:54, and also for the first time the first four seeding numbers of one region did not reach the 1/8 finals. In the final of the region, the 11th seeding number of Loyola Ramblers and the 9th number of Kansas State Wildcats met.

Qualification

The NCAA's first division in the 2017/18 season included 351 basketball teams, but four of them - Alabama A&M, Grambling State, Savannah State and Southeast Missouri State were not allowed to participate in the tournament due to poor academic performance of athletes [2 ] . Later, the league management allowed the Savannah State to participate in postseasonal tournaments.
