Biography

Born in Smetik , Staffordshire . At the beginning of his career he played for the teams Woodfield, Albion Swifts and Birmingham St. Georges [1] . In 1892 he became a player in the Grimsby Town Club. He spent five seasons in the team, playing a total of 148 matches and scoring 35 goals.

He spent the season 1897/98 as part of Bristol City in the Southern League , having played 21 matches and scored 6 goals. He was the captain of the team [1] .

In 1898 he moved to Newcastle United . He made his debut for the club in the first round of the championship , September 3, 1898 in a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers . September 26 of the same year, scored the first goal for the club (in the match against Sheffield United ). He played for the team for two seasons, having played 39 matches and scoring 3 goals [2] .

In the 1900/01 season, played for Middlesbrough , having played 29 matches for the team and scoring 4 goals.

In October 1901 he moved to the Newton Heat club from Manchester (in less than a year the club will change its name to Manchester United) [3] . He made his debut for the team on October 12, 1901 in the Second Division match against Burton United [4] . In total, in the 1901/02 season he spent 10 matches for the team [5] . After the end of the season left the club.

In 1897 he played in the England Football League team in a match against the Irish League team [1] .
