History

In the List of Populated Places of the Russian Empire, according to information for 1859, it is referred to as the official village of Old Green of the Khvalynsky District of the Saratov Province , located by the Zelenovka River along the country road from Khvalynsk to the city of Kuznetsk (through the village of Elshanka) at a distance of 38 versts from the county town . In the village there were 242 courtyards, 752 men and 820 women lived, there were 3 mosques [2] .

According to the census of 1897, 2,261 inhabitants (1,113 men and 1,148 women), all Mohammedans , lived in the village of Staraya Zelenovka [3] .

According to the List of Populated Places of the Saratov Province in 1914, the village of Old Zelenovka belonged to the Nobility-Tereshan volost . According to the information for 1911, there were 511 registered and 4 "outside" courtyards in the village, 2686 registered and 16 outsiders lived, there were 5 mosques. The village was inhabited mainly by former state peasants , Tatars , who formed one rural society [4] .

Physical-geographical characteristic

The village is located within the Volga Upland , which is part of the East European Plain , in the Bely Rodnik gully ( Tereshki river basin) at an altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. Within a radius of 4-4.5 m to the west and south of the village is a deciduous forest [5] . Soils - residual carbonate chernozem [6] .

The village is located in the eastern part of Starokulatkinsky district about 21 km in a straight line from the district center of the urban-type settlement Staraya Kulatka . On roads, the distance to the district center is 26 km, to the regional center of the city of Ulyanovsk - 220 km [7] .
