Biography

From the bourgeoisie. He studied at the Odessa Greek Commercial School, then at the 2nd Odessa Gymnasium (1889). In 1894 he graduated from the medical faculty of the University of St. Vladimir in Kiev with a doctor ’s degree and a gold medal for a competitive essay. In 1894-1896 he attended the psychiatric clinic of S. S. Korsakov as an external student , in which he was engaged in experimental psychology. Since the fall of 1894, he also worked at the Physiological Institute of Moscow University. In 1896 he was appointed Acting Assistant at the Department of Animal Physiology of the Moscow Agricultural Institute , since 1901 - in the state, in May 1902 he was approved as an assistant. At the same time, from September 1900 to September 1904 he was a supernumerary (without maintenance) assistant at the Department of Physiology at Moscow University .

In 1904 he defended his thesis "Galvanotropism and Animal Galvanotaxis" for the degree of Doctor of Medicine and in March was approved as Privatdocent of Moscow University.

In 1910, together with the doctor of sciences, privat-docent Alexander Borisovich Isachik, he organized the Moscow Women's Medical Institute and became its director.

In February 1912, he became an extraordinary professor in the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine , who was released in connection with the Casso case ; At the same time he headed the office of normal physiology, and also headed the Physiological Institute of Moscow University.

There is information that it was at the Statkevich lecture that student G. N. Kaminsky informed students that a revolution had taken place in Petrograd (1917).

Due to the fact that the appointment of Statkevich to the position of an ordinary professor was formalized by order of the ministry, and not as a result of the elections, as was the procedure, Statkevich was asked in March 1917 to submit a letter of resignation from Moscow University.
