Anna Ditrievna Bubnova-Ono is a Russian, Soviet and Japanese violinist and teacher. She was married to , a Japanese zoologist, public figure, translator of Russian literature. Her husband's niece is Ono Yoko , the widow of John Lennon .

Biography

Born March 13 (1), 1890 in a noble family in St. Petersburg . Father, Dmitry Kapitonovich, a bank clerk, had the rank of college adviser . Mother, Anna Nikolaevna, nee Wulf, had a beautiful voice and was a musically gifted person. In childhood and adolescence, together with her older sister Varvara , later a well-known artist and art historian, she often visited the estate of her maternal grandfather N.I. Wolfe in the village of Bernovo, Staritsk Uyezd , and A.F. Pushkin .

In 1904 - 1911 she studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in the class of violin (leading professor L. Auer ). At the end of the conservatory, she taught music and gave concerts. In 1915, she married the Japanese , the future zoologist, at that time a student of the natural sciences faculty of St. Petersburg University , and moved to Japan.

In Japan, Anna Bubnova-Ono began to popularize European music, opening a children's music school in her home; among her first students are later known musicians , , and many others.

In the 1930s, the only son of the Ono couple died, which later led to a divorce.

She taught (professor) at the Toho Institute of Music and . Brought up for Japan two generations of violinists, more than a thousand people. In 1946, the students united in a musical society named after her. In 1959 she was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure of the fourth degree for her merits in musical and pedagogical activity . In Japan, Anna Bubnova-Ono is called the "mother of Japanese violinists."

She returned to the USSR in 1960. Together with her sister Barbara, she lived in Sukhumi , taught at the music school.
