Distinctive features of the group are its neglect of the concept of "studio recording", the absence of any kind of management and the creation of a kind of circus performance on stage.
Throughout its history, “Misty Ston” has left only one studio album - “Zorro” ( 1998 ), as well as the magnetic album “1989” and some scattered studio and concert recordings.
After the death of Dmitry Yezuta in 2010, Leonid "Shlyop" Shtitelman took his place as a vocalist, who performed with the group in 1986-1991, and after that he took the position of manager of TS. Currently, the team is working on a second numbered album, which will include the old songs of Yezut and several new songs.
Group History
The origin of the group "Misty Ston" began in the distant 1985. During this period, a wave of Russian rock swept over the European territory of modern Russia and other countries of the Soviet Union swept across the entire Far East of Russia. At the same time, its founders met with each other - Dmitry Ezuta, at that time the beginning guitarist and bass guitarist Igor “Karas” Nekrasov. It is noteworthy that at that time both guys were 17 years old, and new friends were seriously interested in music.
After an unsuccessful day spent on one of the beaches of Vladivostok, Mitya and Karas recorded a whole magneto album overnight called “Tomatoes in the Eyes. Party One. ” Unfortunately, this record, which was kept by Nekrasov, was lost and not a single copy was made. That very night the name for the group was invented - “Misty Moan”. Soon, the first team came together:
- Dmitry "Mitya" Jesuit - guitar, vocals;
- Igor "Karas" Nekrasov - bass;
- Ivan Sorokatyuk - keyboards;
- Roman "Tambourine" Zlobin - drums;
A successfully assembled group began its concert activity, giving several concerts in the housing department. Moreover, all these performances under the pretext of cultural entertainment events Karas, who then had the appearance of an excellent botanist, organized, negotiating with an unsuspecting leadership. Then the participants ran away to where: Karas entered the university, Sorokatyuk began to receive education at the Naval College and forever abandoned the music. As for Yezut, he fell into a difficult situation with the local police, from which he got out when he left for service in the Soviet Army. Subsequently, this moment from the life of Yezut captured in the song "Zorro and Pinocchio."
A year later, in 1986 , Igor Nekrasov pulls up vocalist Leonid Shtitelman nicknamed "Slap" and guitarist Igor Kozhanov (now deceased). Even then, Nekrasov, as a bass player, decided that the scene should go out merrily, fervently and not strainingly. Contrary to popular belief in narrow circles, “Misty Stone” has never been a member of the Vladivostok rock club, which included all the very most rock groups in the capital of the Primorsky Territory: starting with Mumiy Troll and Depeshi, and ending with the Council of Veterans of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station (SECS). In the updated line-up, “Misty Ston” performed in October 1986 at a festival at the local Youth House. According to Shtitelman himself, three songs were performed: “Okay, girl!”, “Behind the barn” and “Half past six”.
According to Schleop, at that time the group wrote several songs, consisting mainly of three or four lines and without a logical end. The first songs appear: "Sad", "Half past five", "Behind the Barn", which later became the hallmark of the TS in that period. In the fall of 1987, Shtitelman leaves for military service. At that time, he wrote one of the songs for the group - “The Soviet Army”, inspired by pleasant impressions of the army service.
In the summer of 1988, Dmitry Yezuta returned from the army. Then he noticed that the Soviet authorities had ceased to put heavy pressure on rock music, but they didn’t give much progress either. In addition, “Misty Ston” did not fall under the total supervision of the government for one very simple reason: the collective never had any sharp-social, anti-government songs. Soon after the demobilization, Yezuta quarreled with Nekrasov and he left the group. In place of Karasy comes Nikita Zinin, who was then a student at one of Zelenograd universities, and in November 1989 Shtitelman was also demobilized. “Misty Ston” resumed its concert activity, however, none of the participants reached the stage to record a full-length studio album.
In principle, the recording group was never needed. Their style is a live concert, a theater show. And when they started talking seriously about the recording, everyone began to hurt their heads, and everyone ran up.
- According to the article by Oleg Erastov “Rock-techno-roll of the port city” (1998) [1]
The team was limited only to short studio sessions. The first of them took place in December 1989 in the hostel of the Voronezh State Medical University (now TSMU) in the personal studio of Roman Zlobin, then the lyric compositions by Mitya Yezuta “Heat” and “Evening” were recorded. At the same time, Leonid Burlakov is organizing “Decade'90” concerts in FENU. All Vladivostok rock bands who still held guitars in their hands took part in them: the recently reunited Mumiy Troll, Leaves of Grass, Koba (Nick Rock and Roll band) and others. Even before the concerts in January 1990, Zinin returned to study and was replaced by Eugene "Shift" Zvidenny (Third Guard, Mumiy Troll).
More or less professionally, “Foggy Ston” managed to record only in the same 1990 in connection with the Russian-Japanese festival at the KTOF water base. The group recorded three of their songs: “The Soviet Army”, “La-la-la” and “I want you” with the aim that Primorsky Radio would bring them to the audience. Of course, I didn’t get to the festival or the Misty Ston radio for two reasons: the first is a low artistic level and the second is a negative reaction from the leadership of the Primorsky radio station. By the way, according to the first wording, none of the teams of the Vladivostok Rock Club (with the exception of Abstraction and Sunday Platform 666) were missed at the Russian-Japanese festival. It is little known that the last two groups were allowed to participate because they consisted of certified musicians.
Soon after this unfortunate event, Mitya Yezuta decided to change the format and sound of “Misty Moan”: instead of killer and driving punk rock, the band began to play lighter rock and roll. The sound became smoother and softer, and the group’s repertoire was based on lyrical ballads and compositions in the style of Brit-pop, which, moreover, did not lose their good mood and energy. Some songs of the early, Soviet period either ceased to be performed, or acquired new arrangements. The changes also affected the concert line-up: Leonid Shtitelman leaves the group and becomes its manager, occasionally performing on stage. Igor Kirpa, who previously played in the local teams “K.L.AD.I.” and “Dancing Gooseberry,” replaced Roman Zlobin’s drum kit.
Little is known to the general public about the period 1992-1998. The documents of those times are the few surviving photographs and videos, subsequently posted on Youtube. One after another, songs are born, some of which will subsequently be included in the Zorro album. In the summer of 1992, Nikita Zinin, who grew up musically, returned to the group as the leader-guitarist.
He immediately liked us at a point in the winter of '91. Tall, with a charming smile, his hair was original: because of the military pulpit, the model of his haircut was an army model from all sides, especially from the back of the head. But in front, Nikita grew a thick strand, discolored with peroxide and famously hid it at the institute, proudly straightening it outside its walls. And immediately on bass began to play normally. We are so joyful, let's play up, the mood has improved ... Turnip (rehearsal) is over, enthusiastic go home, tune to rock and roll, and Nikitos then tells us in a human voice: "It's nonsense is your punk rock, I finally Depeche Mode I love .... "
Mitya was very happy about Nikita's return. Nikita has done a lot for the group in terms of music. He thinks very interestingly. I don’t know if he has music education, maybe the guitar was at the level of a music school. he and Zdwig should have easily understood each other. the rest only knew about the notes that they were. Of course, Mityai was a giant in musical theory regarding me in terms of chords, how they are indicated, and how to put fingers .... but with the advent of Nikita, he gladly got rid of the guitar on stage and concentrated on poetry that he understood.
- Leonid "SHLёP" Shtitelman, answers to questions from fans [2]
In 1994, Leonid Burlakov organized a recording at the Decada studio, in which Foggy Ston recorded three songs on tape. Subsequently, almost no one ever heard this recording.
In 1996, the team took part in the first international Far Eastern rock festival “VladiROKstok'96”, at which their performance was received most warmly. Firstly, “TS” was the only local band to sing in Russian. Secondly, the group itself is also the only example of true Vladivostok rock. These are songs of ordinary guys who after work go to the beach, wander around the streets, stare at beautiful girls and believe that this is the only way to live. This is a real rock and roll, smelling of the sea of the port city. In addition to “Foggy Moan”, foreign groups (The Posies, Supersuckers, Goodness), as well as Aquarium and DDT took part.
It would have remained “Misty Ston” locally famous if Ilya Lagutenko and Leonid Burlakov had not organized the recording of their debut album in London, where the group “Mumiy Troll” recorded the album “Marine”. TS's debut album, entitled Zorro, was recorded and mixed at Beethoven Street Studios from March 8 to April 1, 1998. Ilya Lagutenko not only made contact with the “Misty Moan” with English sound engineers, but also invited local session musicians to record on the part of the guitar and harmonica. After finishing work on the album, the collective returned to their homeland in Vladivostok, and the album "Zorro" was released on November 23, 1998. Her presentation was held in the Vladivostok CD-Land store, one of the owners of which was Burlakov. The album itself included 12 compositions composed between 1986 and 1998. Video clips were shot for the songs “Sad” and “Maniac” by director Mikhail Khleborodov (who had previously worked with “Mumiy Troll”).
