Lead ribozyme ( English leadzyme ) - a small artificially created ribozyme . Lead ribozyme splits RNA in the presence of lead [1] .
The structure of lead ribozyme in 2003 was determined by x-ray crystallography with a resolution of 1.8 angstroms [2] .
It was shown that the nucleotide sequence homologous to lead ribozymes is present in 5S rRNA , suggesting that lead ribozymes may be involved in the toxic effect of lead [3] .
