Biography
Albert Anatolyevich Rizvanov was born on December 17, 1974 in Kazan. He graduated from Kazan School-Gymnasium No.7 with a gold medal and entered the Department of Microbiology of the Biological and Soil Faculty of Kazan State University (KSU).
In 1995 he graduated with honors from KSU. From 1995 to 2003 he studied at the graduate school of the University of Nevada, Reno, USA.
In 2003, he received a Ph.D. degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a research fellow at the University of Nevada, Reno, USA.
In 2006, at the invitation of the leadership of Kazan State University, he returned to Russia to the Department of Genetics, Biological and Soil Faculty of Kazan State University.
In 2011, he received a doctorate in biological sciences (01/03/04 - biochemistry).
From 2012 to 2013 - Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology of KFU.
From 2012 to 2014 - Head of the Department of Genetics, Kazan Federal University (KFU).
In 2016, he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan (Department of Medical and Biological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, specialty "Cell Biology").
Since 2016 - Deputy Head of the strategic academic unit “Translational 7P Medicine” and the head of the Center for Excellence “Regenerative Medicine” as part of the KFU competitiveness program (5-100).
At present, he is the chief researcher, professor of the genetics department, head of the OpenLab laboratory “Genetic and Cellular Technologies” of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, head of the search research department of the REC of Pharmacy at KFU.
Married, two children (son and daughter).
Scientific activity
Field of research:
- Gene and cellular technologies in regenerative medicine;
- Molecular aspects of neurobiology;
- Molecular virology and immunology;
- Diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
In 2018, he was awarded a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for state support to leading scientific schools of the Russian Federation (NSh-3076.2018.4) on the topic “Study of the fundamental mechanisms of regeneration that occur in muscle tissue in normal conditions and with ischemic damage against the background of gene therapy”.
The author of more than 240 scientific articles in international and domestic journals, as well as 17 patents for inventions. Under his leadership, 2 doctoral and 11 master's theses were defended. Hirsch index is 17, more than 1000 citations.

- 2009 - Prize of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan for state support of young scientists.
- 2015 - Certificate of honor of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan for long-term fruitful work in the system of higher professional education.
- 2017 - Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan named after V.A. Engelhardt in the field of biology for the cycle of work "Gene and cell therapy in regenerative medicine" (in collaboration with A.P. Kiyasov and R.R. Islamov).
