Korotaev, Vladislav Nikolaevich

Born on September 27, 1937 in the village of Ivanovskoye , Moscow Region, in the family of geodesic engineer Glavvoenstroy SNK of the USSR N.I. Korotaev (1909–), who was from the family of a military priest from Kaluga ^[5] .

In 1961 he graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University , Department of Geomorphology, majoring in geography and geomorphology.

He studied the morphology and dynamics of high-mountain lakes: Issyk-Kul, Chatyr-Kul, Son-Kul, on the basis of the Tien Shan physical-geographical station of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR . Based on the materials in 1967, he defended a dissertation at Moscow State University on the topic “Morphology and Dynamics of the Coastal Zone of Lake Issyk-Kul” ^[6] .

In 1969 he moved to the Problem Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Channel Processes of the Geography Faculty of Moscow State University, and began studying the northern rivers. Since then he has been working at Moscow State University, now he is a leading researcher at the N. I. Makkaveev Scientific Research Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Channel Processes. He is engaged in the following issues: dynamic geomorphology of river deltas, channel morphodynamics of the lower reaches of lowland rivers, regulation of sea estuaries.

Participated in expeditions to the Indian Ocean on the research vessel " Academician Petrovsky ":

• 1978 - 9 voyage to the western Indian Ocean ^[7] .
• 1982 - 13 flight to the Seychelles ^[8] .

In 1977-1982 he was the cameraman of documentaries shot by him on a 16-mm color film on a Krasnogorsk-3 movie camera in Central Asia and the Indian Ocean.

In 1991 he defended a doctoral dissertation at Moscow State University on the topic "Morphology and dynamics of river deltas and regional features of delta formation" ^[9]

For many years he headed the trade union committee of the geographical faculty of Moscow State University, a member of the academic council of the faculty.

Recently, he directed and was a member of research teams developing a number of scientific topics ^[10] , among them:

• 2017—2019 - Hydrological and morphological monitoring of estuarine areas of rivers of archipelagos of the Russian Arctic: typification of estuaries and river deltas, current status and development dynamics in the context of global environmental changes.
• 2017—2019 - Shelf of the Crimean peninsula: geomorphology and recent history of development.
• 2016–2020 - Evolution and transformation of erosion-channel systems under conditions of changing environmental conditions and anthropogenic loads.
• 2014—2015 - Erosion-channel systems and the safety of land and water use
• 2013—2015 - River deltas of reservoirs and lakes: patterns of formation and development forecast
• 2013—2015 - Estuary-delta systems of the Arctic coast of Russia: modern dynamics, patterns of development and response to global changes in the environment
• 2011—2015 - The evolution of erosion-channel systems and their components under conditions of climate change and anthropogenic pressures.

The scientific work of V.N. Korotaev found its application in deepening the bottom and straightening sea channels on the estuarine coasts of large rivers in the north of Siberia, as well as in the reconstruction of the Volga-Caspian canal .

• 1987 - Medal "Veteran of Labor" .
• 1993 - D.N. Anuchin Prize , for the best published work on geography at Moscow State University.
• 2004 - title “Honored Researcher of Moscow University”
• 2005 - Anniversary badge "250 years of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov "

• Member of the All-Union Geographical Society .
• Member of the working group "Sea Shores" of the RAS Council on the problems of the oceans (founded in 1952).
• Member of the Presidium of the Interuniversity Scientific Coordination Council on the problems of erosion, channel and wellhead processes.
• Full member of the Academy of Water Sciences (since 2003).
