Music video
The music video was shot in Pristina , the hometown of Rita Ora and the capital of the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo . The video clip was released on Vevo on October 27, 2012 [5] . Ora explained why she chose this place for her video, saying: “I was born in a small town called Pristina, which no one knows about, so I am proud that I put it a little on the map, because we are a very patriotic country, therefore we always try to indicate where we are from, where we can, because it is such a beautiful place ” [6] . Speaking about the video (directed by Emil Nava [7] ), the singer noted: “The whole country was on the street ... I got off the plane, there were millions of goals. I did not see the earth. I'm not even exaggerating. It was the most surreal experience I have ever had. It was more than a music video. [This] was a moment in our history of Kosovo, it was a moment when people could see us: how we live, our landscapes. It was my duty to make my video there ” [8] . In the video clip, Rita Ora rides Pristina with bikers, and also meets and sings for local residents in various parts of the city, including the Newborn monument [9] [10] .
The single was used to create the musical documentary film Columbia's 28. This short film, which premiered on YouTube in December 2012, tells the story of the 28 missions of the Columbia shuttle . Director Salem Hannah chose “Shine Ya Light” as the basis for the video when she heard it on her car radio when she wondered: what kind of music can cause the soaring spirit of spaceflight. The lyrics also fit her as a way of describing advanced scientific research [11] .
In computer games
The song was included in the soundtrack of the add-on to the popular computer game The Sims 3: Seasons and was performed by Rita Ora in Simlish , a coined virtual language.
