Trnka, Alois

Alois Trnka ( born Alois Trnka ; February 18, 1883 , New York - 1923 ) is an American violinist and music teacher of Czech origin.

Studied in Chicago at the Joseph Chapek School of Music. Then he graduated from the Prague Conservatory (1903) in the class of Otakar Shevczyk , after which he undertook a tour of Austria-Hungary [1] . In 1907 he returned to the United States, opening a private music school in New York; among his students are Max Rosen , David Hochstein , John Corigliano (Sr.) .

Nephew, also Alois Trnka (1904-1990) - cellist, for 48 years as part of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra [2] .
