Biography

Born July 20, 1990 in Finland, in the city of Vaasa. A pupil of the local hockey school, played for the youth team of the Sport club in the youth leagues of the country. In the 2010/11 season, he played 5 matches in the second league of the country for the club. In the 2011/12 season, he also played for Sport, had 45 matches in the regular season of the second league, and 11 matches in the playoffs.

On April 19, 2012, Koivisto became a player in the KalPa Major League hockey club [1] . As a player in the team, he spent 3 seasons in the Finnish Hockey League. He spent 177 matches, scored 9 goals and gave 44 assists. In the 2014/15 season he made his debut in the hockey Champions League.

In the 2015/16 season, he was a player at the Lucco hockey club. In the Champions League match against the Swiss Friborg , he was injured and out of action for four months [2] . In total that season, Mijka played 24 matches, scoring 1 goal and giving 8 assists. Also played 1 match in the second league for the KeuPa team.

In the 2016/17 season, he played in the rookie of the Finnish League - Yukurit Club. He was the team captain. In total, he spent 56 matches in the league, noting 4 abandoned goals and 33 assists. He participated in the match of all the stars of the Finnish League, and also won the prize for the best defender of the league - “Pekka Rautakallio Trophy”.

For the national team of Finland, he spent 6 matches at the stages of the European hockey tour in 2017. In 2018, he made his debut for the main national team at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
