Biography

Game career

Odair (when he was a player was known by his name) began his sports career at Internacional in 1997. In the year of his debut, together with the team he became the champion of the state of Rio Grande do Sul . He failed to gain a foothold in the Colorado camp, and in 1999 he moved to another team, traditionally ranked among the leading in Brazil - Fluminense . However, in the late 1990s, a serious crisis arose in a club from Rio de Janeiro , which led to the fact that in 1999 the team began the Serie C championship of Brazil. Odair received a game practice and helped the “tricolor” win the third division of Brazilian football. In 2000, he returned to Inter, but again could not become a solid base player.

From 2001 and almost until the end of his football career, Odair, as a rule, changed clubs once a year. Among the teams for which he played were America Natal, Gremio Brazil, KBA, Remo Club (in 2005 helped the team win Series C), America (Rio de Janeiro). The midfielder also played abroad. In 2003, he spent three matches in the Swedish Enköping [1] . In the 2007/08 season, he performed in the Hong Kong Championship . He ended his career as a player in 2009 with Gremio Brazil from Pelotas .

In the youth team of Brazil, Odair in 1997 participated in the World Cup in Malaysia. In the tournament he played in one match against the Republic of Korea (10: 3).

Coaching career

In 2010, he headed the youthful (under 17 years old) line-up of the Internacional. In 2012, he worked with the youth (up to 20 years) composition in this club. From 2013 to 2016, he was part of the coaching staff of the main team of Inter [2] . During the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Odair Elman was part of the coaching staff of the Brazilian national team under the leadership of Rogerio Mical . For the first time in their history, Brazilians managed to win the gold medals of the Olympic football tournament [2] .

At the end of the Olympics, he continued to work at Inter as an assistant coach. First acted as head coach in August 2015, after the dismissal of Diego Aguirre [2] . In May 2017, he again acted as head coach after the dismissal of Antonio Carlos . Three rounds before the end of Series B, Inter's management fired Guto Ferreira and appointed Elman as head coach on an ongoing basis. “Colorados” under his leadership won two matches, and until the last round they fought for victory in the tournament. However, the second place allowed Inter to solve the problem of returning to Series A [2] [3] .

In mid-2017, Elman used his vacation to complete an internship at the French club PSG . Subsequently, he was trained at the training center for trainers of the KBF in Teresopolis ( Rio de Janeiro ) [4] .
