Biography
Born February 25, 1948 in Moscow. Brother Michael (born 1957) also became a financier. [one]
In 1966-1967 he worked as a laboratory assistant at the Research Institute of Semiconductor Instrumentation in Moscow.
In 1972 he graduated from the Faculty of International Economic Relations of the Moscow Financial Institute (now Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation ) with a degree in international economic relations. [2]
From 1972 to 1980, he worked as an economist, consultant, chief expert and deputy head of the department of the head of the monetary and economic department of the board of the USSR State Bank , where he oversaw issues of interaction with international financial institutions and supervision of Soviet banks abroad. From 1980 to 1986, he was deputy manager of the Singapore branch of the Moscow People's Bank (Mosnarbank), led the organization of the credit work of the department and the development of its client network. From 1987 to 1991 - deputy head of department, head of department of Soviet banking institutions abroad of Vneshtorgbank of the USSR and Vnesheconombank of the USSR. He coordinated the activities of subsidiary banks in England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Cyprus. At the same time he was a member of the supervisory board of the Moscow People's Bank.
From 1991 to 1997, Igor Suvorov worked as managing director of the Singapore branch of the Moscow People’s Bank and led the development of the bank’s business and its integration in servicing new trade flows between Russia and Southeast Asia. From 1997 to 2005, he was chairman - chief executive officer of Mosnarbank. From 2005 to 2009 - Chairman - Chief Executive Officer of VTB Bank Europe (the so-called Moscow People's Bank in London ).
