Biography
Mikhail Alekseevich Samoteikin was born on April 4, 1926. In 1951, he successfully graduated from the Saratov Medical Institute (now the Saratov State Medical University). He studied at the graduate school of the Institute at the Department of Pathological Anatomy.
In 1954 he defended his thesis on "The effect of high blood pressure on the blood vessels of the lungs." (1954). In 1966, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Blagoveshchensk Medical Institute on the topic “Bronchospastic atelectasis of the lungs and its role in the development of pneumonia in young children” (supervisor Anatoly Ivanovich Strukov, academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences) [1] .
At different times he worked in the following positions: assistant (1954–1956), head. Department of Pathological Anatomy, Annunciation Medical Institute (now the Amur State Medical Academy) (1956–1968); Head Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Novosibirsk Medical Institute (now the Novosibirsk State Medical University) (1968-1983); Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (1968–1971), Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Novosibirsk Medical Institute (1971–1978). He was also a member of the board of the All-Union Scientific Society of Pathologists, the editorial board of the journal Archive of Pathology, and the chairman of the Novosibirsk Scientific Society of Pathologists.
Under the leadership of M. A. Samoteikin, about 20 master's and 6 doctoral dissertations were prepared and defended.
Research interests: studying the pathology of microcirculation in the heart, kidneys and brain, bronchopulmonary pathology, etc.
M. A. Samoteykina is the author of about 160 scientific papers on pathological anatomy and pathology of the microvasculature.
Mikhail Alekseevich Samoteikin died on September 19, 1987 in Novosibirsk after a serious illness, and was buried in the Zaeltsovsky cemetery of Novosibirsk.
