Biography
Born July 12, 1909 in St. Petersburg in the family of a plant engineer. In 1929 he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute [1] . From 1929 to 1931 he worked at the Putilov plant in Leningrad. In 1933 he was sent to the city of Mariupol to the metallurgical plant named after Ilyich. During the work of Shneerov, the head of the workshop reconstructed the open-hearth furnaces, which made it possible to increase productivity. from 1938 to 1941 he worked in the People's Commissariat of Education. In the mid-1930s he was the head of the open-hearth shop. Developed a plan to increase smelting in open-hearth furnaces.
Since 1941, he worked at the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works as deputy chief engineer. He was a laureate of the Stalin Prize in 1947 for the development and implementation of automatic control devices for open-hearth and domain processes.
Since 1950, he worked at UkrNIIIMet in Kharkov. He defended his thesis in 1954 on the theme "Research on the operation of open-hearth furnaces of large tonnage." From 1964 to 1985, he headed the metallurgy department of the HMI in Dnepropetrovsk [2] . In 1971 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Quiet Steel". Largely due to the activities of the Institute and the efforts of Ya.A. Shneerov, the open-hearth smelting using oxygen by the mid-70s was brought to 83.4%, and only in Ukraine from 1960 to 1970 did the amount of this steel from 9.9 to 26.3 million tons [3] New laboratories appeared in the department of compulsory medical insurance of the HMI. Also, while working at the HMI, he was engaged in research on the oxygen-converter process. After 1991, he worked at the Steelmakers Association. He headed the editorial commissions of the labor congresses of steelmakers.
