Biography

Jacques Macke studied law and philosophy. The topic of his dissertation was the sociology of knowledge. He studied at the University of Louvain and London , which he graduated in 1952 , as well as at Harvard University .

The specialist lived and worked in African countries before they achieved independence - in general, for a decade. There he headed one of the centers of the Institute for Scientific Research in Central Africa in Butar (Rwanda), then was a professor of ethnography at the University of Congo in Lubumbashi ( DRC ).

After returning from Africa, the scientist taught courses on ethnography and culture of the peoples of Tropical Africa at universities in many countries of the world ( USA , Canada , Belgium ), is a professor at the University of Brussels, and led the section at the Practical School of Higher Studies at the University of Paris .
