History

According to information for 1859, the List of Populated Places of the Russian Empire is referred to as the treasury village of New Yablonka of the Khvalynsky district of the Saratov province , located at the Yablonny key on the left side of the Kazan postal highway from the city of Volga to the city of Syzran at a distance of 17 miles from the county town . In the settlement there were 182 yards, 702 men and 746 women lived, 5 mills worked [2] .

According to the census of 1897, 1935 residents lived in the village of Novaya Yablonka, of which 1783 were Orthodox [3] .

According to the List of populated areas of the Saratov province of 1914, New Yablonka belonged to the Selitba volost . According to the information for 1911, there were 337 yards in the village, 1282 men and 1161 women lived. The village was inhabited mainly by former state peasants , Mordovians , who made up one rural society . In the village there were 1 Orthodox and 1 single-faith churches, parochial and zemstvo schools [4] .

Physico-geographical characteristics

The village is located within the Volga Upland , which is part of the East European Plain , at the source of the Novoyablonka River (the left tributary of Tersa ). Novoablonka, originating on the western slopes of the Khvalynsky mountains , cutting through the Volga Upland , forms a deep valley. The village is located at an altitude of about 145-180 meters above sea level. 2.7 km north of the village rises Mount Mordovian Shishka 267.5 meters high above sea level, 3 km southeast of the village is Mount Kalka 285.2 meters high above sea level. Broad-leaved forests were preserved in the vicinity of the village [5] . The soils are residual carbonate chernozems [6] .

The village is located about 15.5 km in a straight line in a southwest direction from the district center of the city of Khvalynsk . By road, the distance to the regional center is 24 km, to the regional center of the city of Saratov - 210 km [7] .
