The men's tournament was held for the 42nd time from October 5 to 11, having the ATP 500 category; the women's competition was held after a seven-year break for the 7th time from September 14 to 20 and belonged to the international category .

  • doubles tournament - Poland Michal Przyshenzhen / France Pierre-South Erber

General Information

The men's singles tournament brought together 3 representatives of the Top 10 world ranking. The first seeding number was Stan Wawrinka (No. 4 in the world at that time). The second seeding number was last year's tournament winner Kay Nishikori . The Japanese with his audience reached the semifinals, where they lost to the Frenchman Benoit Peru . In the final, he met with the first seeding number of Wavrinka and lost to him in the fight for the title. One representative of Russia played in the main grid: Mikhail Yuzhny . who lost in the first round.

In the men's doubles victory, the main favorites Bob and Mike Brian , seeded under the first number, lost in the first round to Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Fare . Last year's champions Michal Przysenzhny and Pierre-South Erber did not defend their title, but Erber took part in the tournament. He played in tandem with Nicolas May as the second seeding number and their duet lost in the quarter finals. The victory in the tournament was won by the third seeding numbers Raven Klasen and Marcelo Melo , who defeated the Colombians Kabalya and Faro in the final.

The first seeding number in the women's singles tournament was Carla Suarez Navarro (No. 10 in the world at that time). The Spanish tennis player in the first round lost to Katerina Bondarenko from Ukraine. Of the seeded tennis players, only three out of eight reached the quarter-finals, and both participants in the finals did not have a seeding number. The title was eventually won by Janina Wickmeier from Belgium and Magda Lynette from Poland. Wickmeier won the last time she won the WTA single title five years ago. The tournament was attended by one representative of Russia: Alexandra Panova , who lost in the first round.

The women’s doubles went to the duets Zhan Khaoqing and Zhan Yunzhan , which were seeded under the first number. For Yunzhan, victory in Tokyo was the second in her career (before that she won in 2009 in an alliance with Ayumi Morita , when the tournament was part of the ITF cycle . In the final, the Sisters Zhan beat local tennis players Misaki Doi and Kurumi Naru .
